if your looking for a temporary replacement you can get a conair one.

you can use shampoos and conditioners that work with the heat so you dont damage your hair too much =]

Got2Be Makes a spray that you can put in while your straightening your hair. I use it all the time. As for brand of straightener I like the revlon ceramic.

I use GHDs they are great a bit expensive but they have never caused any problems for me, and I would go to your hairdressers and asked because they know best what your hair is like and how to maintain the hair healthy.

I have a Revlon Stylix that I bought last year (cost about $25) and now of the plates won't heat up. So now I have to get a new one. They don't last very long, anyway, I guess.

Most straighteners on the market are very good and quite reasonably priced.. but for value for money why not splash out and get a pair of GHDs they might seem expensive at the time, but they have a two year guarantee and cut down the time you actually have the heat on your hair, so hence the reason you are not damaging your hair and If using products on hair that will help to protect your hair more so. Matrix or GHD products are a good buy they protect the hair from heat damage.
