my mum has very long hair that just down to her middle thighs.She started to grow her hair when she was in her late 30's.Now she is 45 years old.A lot of ladies around my mun's age has cut their hair to neck length.Short hair maybe is the fashion of women in middle age.But my mum's hair is straight,long,no split ends,healthy,and she keeps hair tidy everyday.She makes hair in a huge bun with a hairnet.and only has her hair down when she is home.But why every women tell her she should have a big chop because very long hair is out of fashion.My family think mum's hair is very beautiful and support her keeping it.Is is "out of fashion" equal to "gross'? Why women hate very long hair on other woman?

I think that seeing an older woman with very long hair looks matronly. Not to be rude but it's how you would imagine say an amish woman would have her hair. It's just old fashion but if she likes her hair she shouldn't change it.

It is actually fine if she keeps it up ALL THE TIME. And when I say all the time,I mean also when she is at home.

I don't find it gross at all. And although it is rare to find an older woman with long hair (and also very well kept) I don't think it's something that she should get rid of, especially if she likes it that way. I think you should continue to support her to keep it and make a fashion statement that it's okay to be a little different.

If she likes her hair and its neat all the time then im not seeing the problem other then other people being jealous she has such long pretty hair or that they think just because something is in style and they are following the trend everyone else should be too. some people dont like long hair and others do... to each their own i say.

I think long hair is fine, although I prefer medium length hair, and some trends, but not all. However, hair that is too long may not appear neat. But, if, like you say, it is, than I don't think it needs changing.
