Sebum is tha natural oil found on your scalp that we are always desperate to wash away. Sebum is actually really good for your hair. Black or other kinky/curly women need to wash this stuff away once every 7-10 days. Women with naturally straight or slightly wavy hair should only wash every 3-4 days. Never everyday. If your hair gets really oily after one day of not washing (which i doubt)...try rinsing it with conditioner (not shampoo). Scrub your scalp with your fingers and condition it up! You can usually get rid of the excess dirt this way. If when you wash your hair, it feels squeeky clean, then you have OVERSHAMPOOED and washed out your natural oils that will help prevent against split ends and breakage. You need to get into the habit of deep conditioning your hair! Go to the vitamin shoppe or GNC and purchase some jojoba oil, tee tree oil, almond oil, and/or avacado oil. Mix up some of this stuff and put it on the ends of your hair. Throw a hot towel or a shower cap on your hair for 15 minutes and then and let it sit overnight. In the morning shampoo and condition the stuff out and you'll notice a change. You will need to do this every week. If you use a flatiron I hope you are using a ceramic iron with ceramic plates...not ceramic coated. These irons will cost you about $100 bucks but they straighten better and wont burn your hair out! Try the chi or the maxiglide, both sold at bed bath and beyond! Throw out the head and shoulders..you need to be using products with natural moiturizers..Garnier Fructis makes some really good shampoos and conditioners with avacado oil and other fruit extracts...Also don't use pantene..it's crap for your hair!

My hair falls out in huge clumps when I wash my hair then comb it. I only wash my hair every 3 days and I only brush it when its wet. I use a conditioning oil once a week because I have dry hair. Good luck.

Time and again I have been requesting people to use Coconut Hair Oil. It has been proved in South India that those who use from childhood seldom become bald.South Indian ladies are proud to display their Long and thick black hair. The Shampoo and conditioner has chemical property in it. It does not help. In fact it has negative affect on hair.Regular use of coconut oil will make your skin also soft.
